This is her along with my wife and daughter. I do not know
much of the history yet, but am searching for more information. |
She is a '65 VW Squareback. She is equipped with a factory
crank sunroof, roof rack, clear side markers, a 1600cc engine without
carburetors (previous owner wanted them), stock 4 speed manual
transmission and the original push button lights and wipers. |
Cracked tail lights. Screwed on chrome. Roof rack is misaligned. Window seals are cracked. |
Drivers Fender. Rust has eaten through above Head light bezel. Repair. |
Drivers door is dinged. Rocker (under door) is rusted through, which also contains the heater ducts. Repair. |
Passenger fender rusted through. Might be able to repair instead of replacing. Repair. |
Passenger door is not to bad, but again the rocker has rusted through. Replace. |
Paul, at TypeThreeDetectives, says that this should read "Volkswagen 1500 S". I will have to get the "1500 S" |
This is the location of the battery, which is under the rear fold up seat. As typically found on VW's of this age, the pans are rusted through. Replace. |
Here is the other side. Notice the new 12v and the old 6v voltage regulator. The big black thing is how the heat is transferred from the engine, in the rear, to the front of the
Squareback. |
Shifter on the left. Emergency brake on the right with seat belt catches. In the middle is the heater/temperature controls. Can you believe how dirty it is? Disgusting! |
Seat belt catches with "white" releases. Worn wholes in emergency brake cover. Yes, that really is supposed to be white. |
Cracked dash pad. Fresh air vent controls on the right side of the dash. On the left of the steering column is the parking/head light and wiper/washer push button controls. The
two color shift knob is hard to find. |
Spaghetti anyone? I just love it when people who haven't a clue about electrical start trouble shooting. What a mess. By the time I get done with this I will probably know the
schematic by heart. |
